With temperatures soaring to 30+ degrees this week we have received enquiries about whether employees should still have to attend work. The short answer is yes. There is no law in place that states employees should not attend work during heat wave periods. However employers always have a duty of care to ensure health and safety procedures are in place and to carry out risk assessments when necessary.
Common sense should always prevail and employees should be taking regular breaks and keep hydrated during the hot weather. Keep safe and be sensible is the key message.
