How long do you think this law firm would stay around ? and Would you work for them ?
A firm already in heavy debt, had a culture excessive waste, no accountability on overspending,
A new manager came in to change things.
Top performers: pay cuts, higher targets, now pay for parking.
Middle performers: more pay cuts, tripled targets, bonuses removed and parking charges.
Performing juniors: frozen salaries, rising targets.
Lowest performers: minimal revenue, poor attendance, bad attitudes towards work or contributing, yet given pay rises, lower targets, and free parking.
To make it worse:
Those who look out for their own future, paid into the pension were, the company decided to reduce its contributions by half on top performers
There’s nothing wrong with supporting people who genuinely struggle
but in this system, the work-shy get the most.
In short:
➡️ Those who deliver the most now fund those who deliver the least.
It mirrors Rachel Reeves’ Budget logic:
work more, get less; contribute less, get more.
The real question:
Could any business survive decisions like these especially one already drowning in debt?
And even more importantly:
After four years of this approach… do you think the law firm would even still exist?
Drain the engine to fuel the trailer, and eventually everything stops.
