😮‍💨 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤...

It has been another incredibly busy week at Theorise, as teaching has begun at colleges across Scotland and we prepare for the return of universities shortly.

We've already reached a significant milestone of having over 1,000 students already referred to us in 2026/27.

A major priority continues to be continuity. Wherever possible, we are reconnecting returning students with the support staff they already know and trust, while carefully matching new students with the right person for their individual needs.

We are also continuing targeted recruitment where demand remains particularly high, with roles available in Kilwinning and Inverness - https://uk.indeed.com/cmp/Theorise-Ltd/jobs

Reaching 1,000 referrals this early is a huge indication of the year ahead and of the growing number of students, colleges and universities placing their trust in Theorise.

❤️ 𝐀𝐧 𝐮𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐥𝐚'𝐬 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞

A little while back, we shared that our Director, Angela Brunton, was taking on three incredible endurance challenges in support of Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) and Aiden’s Heart Beat Memorial Fund.

We’re delighted to share that Angela has now raised over 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 £𝟔,𝟎𝟎𝟎!

The training is well underway, with plenty of tough days along the way, and the first challenge is now less than three months away. In November, Angela will travel to Sri Lanka to cycle an incredible 350km over five days. 🇱🇰🚴‍♀️

This will be followed by a Lapland Husky Training Expedition in March 2027, before Angela completes the West Highland Way over five days in May alongside Aiden’s mum, Fiona, and close friends Kerry and Elaine.

Every mile is being undertaken in memory of Aiden Hoenigmann, who should have been celebrating his 30th birthday in 2027, and to support CRY’s vital work preventing young sudden cardiac deaths and supporting affected families.

Angela also has another fundraising event planned for September as she continues towards her next fundraising milestone.

A huge thank you to everyone who has donated from Theorise and elsewhere, shared Angela’s story or offered words of encouragement so far. The support has been incredible, but there is still plenty of training, fundraising and a few thousand kilometres to go!

As the new academic year quickly approaches particularly for new students this can bring excitement, opportunity and uncertainty. Taking a few practical steps beforehand can help the transition feel more manageable.

Before term begins, you may find it helpful to:

- Check your course timetable and important dates

- Familiarise yourself with the campus and travel arrangements

- Review any support recommendations you have received

- Check your emails regularly for information about your support

- Respond when your support worker contacts you

- Make a note of any questions you would like to ask

- Think about what helped you study successfully in the past

- Consider any areas where you may need additional support

You do not need to have everything organised immediately. Establishing a new routine can take time, and it is completely reasonable to ask questions while you settle in.

If support has been recommended but you have not received confirmation of the arrangements before you term begins, please contact your college or university Disability Service, Disability and Inclusion team or equivalent department.

Theorise provides tailored support that recognises each student’s individual strengths, needs and goals. Our aim is to help students develop confidence, independence and practical approaches that work for them throughout further and higher education.

These figures reflect the growing demand for high quality, personalised support across Scotland. Our team is now working hard to prepare allocations, recruit exceptional support staff and ensure students receive the right support as they begin or continue their studies.

As we prepare for another busy academic year, Theorise is continuing to welcome applications from experienced Study Skills Tutors to support university and college students across Scotland.

We are particularly keen to hear from individuals who:
✔ Hold a recognised qualification in supporting students with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD), such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD or autism.
✔ Have experience supporting students within Further or Higher Education.
✔ Are passionate about helping students develop the skills and confidence to achieve their academic potential.
