New Family Physician opportunity in Calgary, Alberta.

We’re working with one of the most exciting clinic groups to be a part of in Canada, and they are continuing to grow throughout the country.

This particular opportunity is based within a brand new purpose-built clinic located in a high-traffic area of Calgary, designed to support strong patient flow and long-term growth from day one.

Highlights include:

• 75% / 25% overhead split with uncapped incentives
• 3 Months Free Accommodation
• Retirement plan
• Excellent supportive team environment
• Modern, purpose-built facility
• Strong patient demand

This is an excellent opportunity for a Family Physician looking for a modern clinic environment with real earning potential and long-term support.

Is medical travel the real issue, or is it a sign of something deeper?

I read this article about Canadian patients travelling abroad to access care they cannot receive quickly enough at home, and it really made me think.

For me, the bigger question is around capacity.

Canada has excellent doctors, nurses and healthcare leaders. The quality is there. But if patients feel they have no option but to leave the country for treatment, then access clearly remains a major challenge.

International recruitment is not the full answer. It never is.

Training more doctors, retaining the clinicians already in the system, improving working conditions and making licensing pathways clearer all matter.

But there are also highly qualified doctors overseas who would seriously consider Canada if the process was clearer, faster and better supported.

So my question is this:

What should Canada be prioritising most right now?

More domestic training places?
Better retention?
Clearer pathways for internationally trained doctors?

Or does it need to be all three?

I would be interested to hear views from doctors, clinic owners and anyone working in Canadian healthcare.

Milan Korcock shares details about Canadians bypassing domestic waiting lists and heading abroad for care, exploring why the trend is accelerating, which treatments are most affected, and how insurers are responding

We placed a UK GP into this clinic.

He’s now full. Busy. And genuinely enjoying work again.

The clinic? Now turning patients away.

They need another Family Physician.

This is not a slow build. You will walk into immediate demand, a supportive team, and a system that already works. No guesswork. No empty diaries. Just a ready-made opportunity to step into a full panel quickly.

Based in Ontario, this is an FHG model with strong earning potential and the kind of setup most doctors are actually looking for but rarely find.

If you are considering Canada and want a role where you can hit the ground running, this is worth a conversation.

Toronto without the chaos?

The Danforth gives you exactly that.

A proper community feel, great food, easy access into Downtown, and a patient population that is already there waiting for you.

We’re working with an established clinic integrated with a Pharmacy that has been part of the area for over 20 years. This is a replacement position, meaning you step into immediate demand from day one.

20 to 25 patients per day from the outset
No overhead for the first 6 months
80/20 split thereafter
Full support team including MOA and Physician Assistant

This is one of the most straightforward ways to enter the Toronto market with strong earning potential straight away.

Florida Physician Recruiters! Have you looked at the state’s new international physician licensure pathway yet?

Under Florida Statute 458.311, certain internationally trained physicians can now obtain a Florida medical license without repeating a full U.S. residency, provided they meet specific requirements such as ECFMG certification, verified postgraduate training, recent independent practice, and a full-time offer from a Florida healthcare provider.

For recruiters facing ongoing shortages in primary care, psychiatry, hospital medicine, and geriatrics, this pathway may open access to a new pool of experienced physicians, particularly UK-trained doctors with 4 years plus of independent clinical practice.

I’ve written a short breakdown explaining how the pathway works and what it could mean for healthcare organisations recruiting physicians in Florida.

If you recruit physicians in Florida, it’s worth understanding.

Read the blog here:

For UK-trained GPs who have considered practising medicine in the United States, Florida has recently become one of the most important states to watch.Florida law now allows certain internationally trained physicians to obtain a medical licence without repeating a full U.S. residency, provided they....

We’ve had a few conversations over the past couple of weeks that have stayed with us.

Doctors we’ve been speaking to who were planning moves to the UAE, Saudi or Qatar… and now they’re pivoting.

And it makes complete sense.

What’s happening in the Middle East is far bigger than any job move. It changes how people think about stability, safety, and what the next few years might look like for them and their families.

Because of that, we're starting to see a shift.

Some are now looking at Canada or Australia instead. Not because it was always the plan, but because it feels more predictable at the moment.

What’s interesting is they’re not choosing to stay in the UK.

It isn’t a case of Middle East or nothing. It’s more a case of, if not there, then somewhere else entirely.

Thinking about Canada but worried about the snow?

Let us introduce you to Windsor, Ontario.

Located in Southern Ontario, right on the US border, Windsor is one of the warmest parts of Canada. It is a city of around 230,000 people, so you have everything you need on your doorstep without the traffic and chaos of a major city.

And if you ever want the buzz of a big city, Detroit is just 30 minutes away across the border.

We are currently working with a well established physician run clinic offering an opportunity to join their Family Health Organisation (moving to FHO+ in April).

For anyone unfamiliar with the model, it provides excellent earning potential while still allowing the work/life balance many physicians are looking for.

The clinic is offering:

• Income stabilisation of $20,000 per month
• No overheads for the first 3 months
• 80/20 split thereafter
• Full support integrating internationally trained physicians

It is an excellent opportunity for a family physician looking to build a panel quickly while working within a supportive and experienced team.

If Canada has ever crossed your mind, this could be a very good place to start.

Big news for Family Doctors in Ontario! 🇨🇦

For the first time, family physicians will now be paid for the administrative work that keeps their clinics running; from reviewing results to completing paperwork and managing patient care behind the scenes.

This long-awaited change recognises the full scope of what doctors do and aims to make family medicine a more sustainable, rewarding career across Ontario.

At Merrick Global Talent, we’re proud to work with clinics and physicians who are helping shape the future of Canadian healthcare.
