Florida Physician Recruiters! Have you looked at the state’s new international physician licensure pathway yet?
Under Florida Statute 458.311, certain internationally trained physicians can now obtain a Florida medical license without repeating a full U.S. residency, provided they meet specific requirements such as ECFMG certification, verified postgraduate training, recent independent practice, and a full-time offer from a Florida healthcare provider.
For recruiters facing ongoing shortages in primary care, psychiatry, hospital medicine, and geriatrics, this pathway may open access to a new pool of experienced physicians, particularly UK-trained doctors with 4 years plus of independent clinical practice.
