Annie Brewster (1858 - 1902) worked at the London Hospital for 20 years and was one of the first Afro-Caribbean nurses to have been identified as working in Britain during this period. She became known as "Nurse Ophthalmic" because of her work with elderly patients who were losing their sight. In 2018, she was commemorated during NHS' 70th anniversary.

💜 WORLD MENOPAUSE DAY 💜

Menopause awareness has persisited today, throughout this dedicated month, and every day. This year is about recognizing "chronic pain at midlife", as it remains underestimated in both research and care despite affecting women significantly.

You can participate by educating yourself and spreading awareness, such as by visiting the International Menopause Society () website for more details.

Today is Restart a Heart Day, the opportunity to raise awareness of cardiac arrest. Learning how to perform CPR is also a core goal of the day, as it doubles the chances of survival from an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest; for example, 8 in 10 cardiac arrests happen in British households. Being equipped with the skills and confidence needed to save a life can make a powerful impact. ❤️ 💙

Today, we want to debunk a common health myth to help better our understanding of how to take care of ourselves properly.

It is often believed that, “Being exposed to cold weather makes you sick.” While cold weather itself is not the cause, when temperatures drop, people tend to spend more time indoors in close proximity to others with closed windows and less ventilation, facilitating the spread of disease. Washing your hands often and staying warm are just some of the ways one can prevent illness.
