The former GB canoeist, also talks about balancing sport and studies and why interests outside of sport are so important.

Since retiring, Rhys has self-funded a PhD exploring the mental health of elite and retired elite athletes. Drawing on his own experiences as an athlete and coach, alongside his background in psychology, he's now a Postdoctoral Research Associate on the Wellcome Trust-funded Helios-BD project at the University of Edinburgh.
