Temporary work can be a brilliant way to gain experience, learn new skills and meet people you wouldn't normally cross paths with.

For some, it's a bit of extra work alongside another job or studying. For others, it's how they build their working life around everything else going on.

That's one of the things we like about event staffing. No two people have quite the same story, and there's room for different skills, personalities and experience.

We want people to feel valued for the work they do, even if they're only with us for a day.

There's something really rewarding about working with a client again.

Every event is different, and there's always something new to think about. But when someone comes back to us for their next event, it's a good feeling to know they want to work with us again.

We don't take that for granted.

Building those relationships takes time. It's about getting to know the event, the people behind it and what matters to them, then doing our part to help things run as they should.

One weekend you could be working at a festival, the next, you might be welcoming guests at a conference or helping out at a corporate event.

That's one of the things our Event Temps enjoy about the work. There are different places to go, different people to meet and different roles to try.

Some people fit shifts around studying or other commitments, while others enjoy getting experience across different types of events. And you never quite know where a new opportunity might take you.

If you were booking staff for a conference, you'd probably want people who are comfortable welcoming guests, helping with registration and answering questions.

For a festival, you might need bar staff, waiting staff or event crew to help with the practical side of getting everything ready.

And for a brand activation, you'd want people who can talk confidently to the public and represent the brand well.

They're all event staff, but the jobs can be very different, and so can the strengths needed for each role.

At Event Temps, we get to know our staff, their experience and what they're good at. That helps us match people to the roles and events that suit them, rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

Before our Event Temps arrive at an event, there's information they need to know.

Where they're working, what they'll be doing, who they're reporting to and anything they need to know about the venue or the event itself.

For a conference, that might mean knowing how registration works and where to direct guests. At a festival, it could be knowing where to report, how to get around the site and who to speak to if they need help.

Every event is different, so the briefing needs to be right for the job.

We believe in well-trained staff, and making sure people know what they're doing before they arrive is an important part of that.

Corporate hosts might not be the first thing you think of when you think about event staff. But at a busy conference, they can be some of the people guests rely on most, and often the first people they meet.

Welcoming people as they arrive, helping with registration, answering questions, pointing people in the right direction and making sure guests know where they need to be.

And when hundreds of people are arriving at once, having well-trained people there who know what they're doing makes a big difference.

We've supplied conference hosts for events ranging from large conferences to smaller corporate days, and the role can be different every time. Sometimes it's helping someone who's running late find the right room while answering three other questions at the same time! 😂

Wondering what you actually pay for when you book Event Temps? Here is what you need to know.👇

Our hourly rate includes everything: staff costs, expenses and payroll charges. No surprises or hidden extras.

For events within a 20-mile radius of Bournemouth, there is no travel fee at all. For events further afield, a travel contribution will apply, and we will always confirm the full cost upfront before anything is agreed.

What you are quoted is what you pay. Simple as that.

We've got our own ideas about what makes a great Event Temp.

But we'd love to know what you think.

If you're an event organiser, venue manager or someone who regularly works with event staff, what's the one quality you value most?

Is it reliability?

Confidence?

A good attitude?

Experience?

Being able to stay calm when things get busy?

Or something completely different?

For us, it's probably a combination of all of them. Someone can have loads of experience, but if they don't work well with the team, it can make a long day even longer.

And sometimes the person with less experience but the right attitude turns out to be brilliant.

One of the things we’ve always been proud of at Event Temps is how many of our staff come back to work with us again and again.

Some have been with us for years.

They’ve worked festivals, weddings, corporate events, sporting events, conferences and everything in between. They’ve seen the organised days, the chaotic days and probably a few that were a bit of both! 😂

And because they’ve built up experience, they know what working at an event is really like.

We also get to know them.

What they’re good at, what sort of events they enjoy and where they work best, because that relationship matters.

We’ve always believed that if you treat people well, pay them fairly and make sure they feel supported, they’re more likely to want to come back.

And when you’ve got good people coming back, like the absolutely awesome Phill, that’s good news for everyone.
