Fostering is about more than opening your home. It’s about being part of a community that understands, supports and shares the journey with you.

The Mockingbird model helps foster carers build connections, share experiences and support one another, creating a wider network for both carers and children.

Watch Stacy and Michael share their experience, and find out how you could become part of a local fostering community.🎥

Preparing to foster means making sure everyone in the household has the chance to understand what fostering involves, ask questions and share how they feel.

Recently, a member of our team visited a family's home to deliver bespoke fostering and safer caring training for their adult children, helping them feel informed, included and part of the journey.

Because supporting a fostering family means recognising the needs of everyone in the household, and making sure their voices are heard. 🌟

On Tuesday, our wonderful Christine visited 10 Downing Street , celebrating all things fostering alongside Josh MacAlister, foster carers and care-experienced people from across the country. She was also joined by Blackburn with Darwen Councillor Julie Gunn.

The event marked the launch of a new national fostering recruitment campaign, with an ambition to create 10,000 more foster places and improve support for foster carers.

We took a lot away from the event, including the importance of not only recruiting new foster carers but also looking at how we can better support and retain the carers we already have. This is something we’re looking forward to exploring further, working alongside our five local councils to help carers feel valued and supported.

Christine is our Training Lead at Foster with us and is passionate about all things fostering. She also loves a good political discussion, so this was a great opportunity for her to be part of the conversation.

In Christine’s own words, “Dreams really do come true.” 💛✨

We’re proud to see fostering in the national spotlight, helping more people discover the difference they could make to a child’s life.

As a regional hub working with five local councils, we’re here to help you explore fostering with your local council and find out what it could look like for you.

You don’t have to have all the answers. Sometimes, the first step is simply asking a question.

Fostering can be a big change for the whole family, including the children who already call it home.

That’s why we offer Supporting Stars Training, helping the children of foster carers understand what fostering means for their family, share their feelings and feel included throughout the journey.

Their thoughts, feelings and experiences matter too. 💛

Today marks the beginning of Children of Foster Carers week🌟

When families choose fostering, it isn’t just foster carers making a difference. Their own children often play a huge role too.

By welcoming children into their home, sharing their space, showing kindness and helping create a sense of belonging, children of foster carers become an incredibly important part of the fostering journey.

Throughout this week, we’ll be sharing stories that recognise and celebrate these amazing young people.

Black History Month is a time to honour the history, achievements and contributions of Black communities, while reflecting on the importance of inclusion and belonging❤️💚💛

In fostering, a child’s identity, culture and background are an important part of who they are. Having foster carers from a wide range of backgrounds can help children feel understood, supported and connected to the people and communities around them.

Every child deserves to feel proud of who they are and have the opportunity to grow up feeling a strong sense of belonging.

This Black History Month, we celebrate the difference that diversity can make in fostering children in your local community and, recognise the importance of creating positive experiences for every child.

Together, we can help shape brighter future. Could you foster with your local council?
