Speed is one of the biggest competitive advantages in engineering and manufacturing recruitment.

When great candidates can be hired elsewhere in a matter of days, the businesses that streamline interviews, give fast feedback and make quick decisions consistently secure the talent that keeps production running, boosts efficiency and protects customer lead times.

NEW VACANCY

Manufacturing Manager | Coventry | £49,000–£55,000 | Days
Are you a Manufacturing Leader who thrives on driving change, building structure and lifting operational performance? This role gives you the autonomy and influence to do exactly that.

We’re supporting a Coventry manufacturer supplying Aerospace, Medical and Automotive sectors, seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Manager to lead production, servicing, purchasing and operational excellence. If you want a role where your decisions genuinely shape performance, culture and customer satisfaction, this is it.

You’ll build robust systems, develop people, eliminate recurring faults and create a manufacturing operation that’s aligned with global teams and ready for scale. Expect ownership, visibility and the chance to make a measurable impact in your first 12 months.

What you’ll bring:
✔ Strong manufacturing leadership (Manufacturing/Production/Engineering Manager level)
✔ Proven CI and root cause problem-solving capability
✔ Experience in regulated or precision environments
✔ A proactive, structured and improvement-led mindset

If you’re ready to lead from the front and elevate a high-performance manufacturing division, let’s talk.

Is it just us, or has the Manufacturing world suddenly kicked into a higher gear these past couple of weeks?

After a slow, stop‑start first half of the year, the last fortnight has felt very different.

- More briefs coming in.
- More hiring conversations.
- More production teams asking for support.
- More urgency.

We are curious what everyone else is seeing across the shop floor, engineering, maintenance, planning, quality and operations.

- Are order books picking up?
- Are projects finally being signed off?
- Are teams feeling the pressure to scale again?

Or is this just a temporary spike before summer?
From our side, the shift is noticeable — and it feels like confidence is creeping back into the sector.

If you’re in Manufacturing, what’s happening in your world right now?
We would love to hear the reality from people on the ground.

The engineering recruitment market isn’t booming again yet — but the freefall has clearly slowed.

Latest market data shows permanent placements and vacancies are still declining, but at the slowest pace we’ve seen in months.

That mirrors exactly what many of us in engineering recruitment are experiencing on the ground:
➡️ Hiring decisions taking longer
➡️ Clients becoming more selective
➡️ Candidate availability increasing
➡️ Projects moving ahead — just more cautiously

For manufacturing and technical engineering businesses, uncertainty is still driving behaviour. Employers want the “perfect fit,” budgets are under scrutiny and confidence remains fragile.
But there’s a clear shift happening: the market is stabilising.

The employers that will win in this environment are the ones that move decisively, communicate clearly and add genuine value.

This isn’t a rapid-growth market. It’s a relationship-driven market again.

The hiring process is losing its signal.

Resumes, assessments, interviews—what we’ve relied on for years—are all being reshaped by AI.

Candidates aren’t just improving applications anymore… they’re being co-piloted through the entire process.

Polished CV ≠ strong candidate

High test scores ≠ real ability

Perfect interview answers ≠ genuine experience

We’re drifting toward hiring for presentation over capability.

So what’s the shift?

From an engineering recruitment perspective:

✅ Test how people think, not just what they produce

✅ Use live problem-solving and real-world tasks

✅ Probe deeper—don’t accept surface-level answers

✅ Look for evidence, not just narratives

AI isn’t going away.

But a smarter hiring process can cut through the noise.

The businesses who adapt now will be the ones hiring real talent—not just the best AI users.
