Developing Historic Areas in Cities Workshop

23rd of October till the 28th of October

This workshop deals with historic areas containing traditional activities and handicrafts. These areas are deteriorating which calls for imminent interventions. This workshop will confront the changes in the different historical eras which in turn affects the shape of the urban fabric.

Day 2:
Traditional Activities
- Traditional Handicrafts and activities Definitions
- Activities Classification
- Traditional activities in Historic Cairo
- A general classification for the current condition of traditional activities in Cairo

Day 3:
Social transformation and its effects on traditional activities
- Local Communities in existing valuable areas
- Non urban dimensions and the urbanism of valuable areas
- Traditional Activities and Historical Areas
- The effect of traditional activities on urbanism

Case Study
- Developing al Darb Al Ahmar District

Join our summer camp in the architecture HUB, where architecture and fun meet. The camp will offer 3 main approaches for your children

The first approach is preparing your kid to be a young ARCHITECT, by introducing them to the main basic principles, by model making techniques and drawings. Also developing his/her skills in the way of choosing and matching colors, and how to design his own bedroom with his favourite theme.

Second approach is art, Where they can explore their creativity and develop handcrafting techniques.
