Do you notice that your child often seems worn out by doing things they usually excel at? They might also be starting to notice this themselves. For many gifted children, this feeling can be confusing. After all, they’re often “good” at the things they care about most.

Gifted children tend to push themselves hard. When that strong inner drive meets pressure, imbalance, or emotional overwhelm, it can lead to something called “gifted burnout.”

Your gifted, talented or twice-exceptional kids may be intelligent beyond their years, but emotionally, they’re just kids. Their quick and sensitive minds may even make it harder to cope with frustration and other big emotions.

When kids are approaching meltdown (and maybe you are too), talking often doesn’t help. Moving, deep breathing and laughing helps to release the physical energy of an escalating stress response.

We specialize in working with Gifted, Twice-Exceptional, and Intense-Minded people of all ages. If you’ve ever felt alone on this parenting journey—this space is for you. 💛 Visit our website to learn more! acornandanchor.com

These little ones feel everything deeply. Let them know their emotions are real and safe, even when they’re overwhelming.
A child can be brilliant in one area and need extra help in another. Celebrate their gifts and be gentle with their challenges.
Their minds are always buzzing! Build in downtime so their nervous system has space to rest, imagine, and reset.
Intense thinkers often resist power struggles. Ask questions, offer choices, and let them feel a sense of agency.
You don’t have to do this alone. Seek educators, therapists, or groups who get neurodivergence and giftedness.

We specialize in working with Gifted, Twice-Exceptional, and Intense-Minded people of all ages. If you’ve ever felt alone on this parenting journey—this space is for you. 💛

Mindfully Neurodivergent is here to help parents of neurodivergent kids with their own big feelings!

Bring your stressed, anxious or burnt-out nervous system and practice listening to its messages about how to care for yourself. Mindfully Neurodivergent is a group for gifted, twice-exceptional, complex-minded and neurodivergent adults seeking to understand their brains and bodies to live well in a world that often doesn’t accommodate their needs. We offer a supportive space to share experiences and skills, and build each other up to take on life’s challenges.

Informed by polyvagal theory, we will explore how our minds and bodies respond to stress, and cover specific tools and techniques for healthy coping. Each week we will introduce and practice neurodiversity-informed mindfulness skills for stress reduction, emotion regulation, self-compassion, healthy relationships & communication, and living a purposeful life.
