YOUR RESUME IS NOT A JOB DESCRIPTION

If your resume says:

• Operated heavy equipment
• Followed safety procedures
• Attended toolbox meetings
• Completed daily inspections

I’ve got some bad news.

So did everybody else.

Tell me WHAT equipment you operated.

Tell me WHERE you operated it.

Tell me if you trained people.

Tell me if you worked in an open-pit mine, construction, reclamation, haul roads or plant operations.

Specifics matter.

Your resume shouldn’t describe the job.

It should describe YOU doing the job.

Does your resume make someone want to interview you?

Because that’s the whole point.

You can have 20 years of experience and still have a resume that doesn’t explain why you’re the right person for the job.
