A story of pride, from one of our own.

Sayem Hossain from Daraz Bangladesh has been recognized at the Alibaba Group Philanthropy Awards this year- honoring individuals across markets who are making a real difference in their communities.

But this is more than just an achievement.

During COVID-19, when many rural communities were left without support, Sayem started with a simple idea- helping people with basic essentials. What began as a small effort soon grew into a movement, bringing together 50+ young volunteers who supported families across multiple villages.

From leading flood relief efforts on the ground to personally distributing warm clothing to those in need, his journey has been defined by compassion, consistency, and courage.

His belief is simple, "When small acts of kindness come together, they really can change the world.”

Sayem reminds us that you don't need to be big to make a difference, you just need to care.

Our office turned into a canvas of joy as we hosted an Art Day for the kids of our colleagues at Daraz Bangladesh, and it wasn’t just the little ones who picked up the crayons!

Many of our colleagues joined in too, reconnecting with their inner child, drawing alongside the kids, and sharing stories that filled the room with laughter and warmth.

It was a beautiful reminder that creativity has no age limit. Moments like these reflect what we truly value. A people-first culture where families are welcome, connections go beyond work, and joy is shared.
