BC Minimum Wage Rises To $18.25/Hour Starting June 1

Workers across British Columbia are set to receive bigger paycheques as the province officially increases its minimum wage from $17.85 to $18.25 per hour starting June 1, 2026 making BC the highest-paying province in Canada for minimum wage workers!

The increase means:
✔️ +$0.40/hour raise
✔️ Around $832 more annually for full-time workers
✔️ 141,000+ employees expected to benefit
✔️ App-based delivery & ride-hailing workers’ engaged wage rises to $21.89/hour

While the raise helps workers deal with inflation and rising costs, many experts say it still falls short of the living wage in several BC regions, where affordability remains a major concern.

Employers are also being urged to update payroll systems and contracts before June 1 to remain compliant.

Important news✨
IRCC is planning to introduce a dedicated language test upload field for Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) applications after widespread confusion among international students. Since November 2024, language test results became mandatory for PGWP applicants but many graduates missed uploading them because the portal had no clear section for submission.

Between Nov. 1, 2024, and Dec. 31, 2025, IRCC received 302,000+ PGWP applications, with 945 rejections tied to language-related issues.

Until the new system update is launched, applicants must upload language test results under the “Client Information” section and combine documents into one file if needed.

If your application was submitted without language results, you may still be able to upload missing documents through the IRCC web form before it’s too late.

Stay informed and protect your immigration journey!

Very Cruel⚠️
The May 20 layoffs at Meta were always going to be brutal. Eight thousand people were losing their jobs. That is 10 percent of the global workforce. But the way Meta did it made everything worse. The company ordered employees to work from home on the day of the cuts . Then, at 4 AM, the layoff emails started hitting inboxes .

No face to face meetings. No video calls. No chance for managers to deliver the news personally. Just a notification in the dark, hours before most people would even wake up. The timing ensured that affected employees would see the email alone, in their own homes, without coworkers or managers to process the news with . The survivors were told to check a spreadsheet to see if their role had been eliminated . The company has not issued a public apology for the timing. The only statement has been the same corporate language used in every other mass layoff this year.

They made you work from home so you would be isolated. Then they fired you at 4 AM so you would be alone. That is not a mistake. That is a design.
