📋 A quick note about the six-month employer rule for Working Holiday Visa holders.

In most circumstances, Working Holiday Visa subclass 417 holders can work for the same employer for up to six months.

However, health and aged care are currently included in the critical-sector exemptions to this rule, meaning eligible nurses working in these sectors can be exempt from the six-month limitation. This is subject to current visa conditions and government policy.

It is something we discuss with nurses as part of the process, so they understand the conditions attached to their visa.

AHPRA registration takes time, particularly because gathering documents from multiple organisations can take time. Your university. Your employer. The NMC. Each one has its own process and its own timeline. ✨

You need both before your first nursing shift in Australia. ✨

The Working Holiday Visa gives you permission to work in Australia, subject to its visa conditions. AHPRA registration gives you the professional right to practise as a nurse.
