With the regular Season wrapping up last week we now move into Grand Final Week. Our last round of matches saw The Tornadoes taking on BAFC in the early match with the Tornadoes taking a handy lead at the first break thanks to a stella return by Key Marking Forward, Michelle Smithwick. There were some cracks starting to show amongst the BAFC team as the opposition had a few key players rattled with some well thought out tactics however they managed to regroup in the second half as Gary Gillespie lined up after the siren with with his team trailing by 1 point. In true sportsmens like manner Gary guided it through for a behind with both teams finishing locked at 42 points. A review of the match was decided that due to some last minute Recruiting and player pinching by the Tornadoes BAFC were awarded the win, for the second week in a row Travis young, filling in for the Tornadoes awarded himself 3 votes despite not being amongst those giving out votes.
In the second match up the girls in the Fire Breathing Rubber Duckies showed some great movement controlling down the ground however they were unable to convert on the scoreboard. For the Mighty Ducks it was a different story with the current Coleman Medalist for the Competition, Brae Whatmore, converting multiple majors. Sam Gudgeon's stella form continued and his home and away season was capped off with a memorable run into the forward line taking a bounce as he approached an unmanned goal line ......... and he will have to share the finishing touches with you. Travis young for the second time in 1 night awarded himself 3 votes.

6.50pm Fire Breathing Rubber Duckies Vs Kangaroos

Round 2 Action saw plenty of players out on the Field and it was the Kangaroos taking on the mighty Ducks in the first match. The girls were on fire for the Mighty Ducks in the first half putting on 4 super goals to open the match right up at half time. The first half was a much tighter affair with neither side able to kick a major until late in the game when the Mighty Ducks slotted home 1 last super goal. Brae Whatmore was devastating up front getting plenty of the footy and kicking 4 super goals and Sam Gudgeon was menacing through the midfield and capped the night of with a contender for the Woolworths Mark of the year with a spectacular one handed over head mark. But self appointed captain coach Travis Young awarded 3 votes for best on ground to himself.
In the second Match it was the new comers, The Fire Breathing Rubber Duckies taking on the Tornadoes who were going through a rebuilding phase due to the School Graduation. As all good squads do the Tornadoes looked for the positives during the tough times and enticed 2 players out of retirement in what seemed to be a master mind move by the team. Michelle Smithwick slotted straight back into full forward and quickly found her touch around goal and looks a certainty to take over the coveted best forward in the household status. Whilst Dan Yasso re-laced his footy boots to showcase some silky skills through the mid-field. Nothing could separate the 2 teams at half time with scores locked at 18 a piece. The crowd was sure that the experience of the Tornadoes would have the leg speed and fitness to outlast the young Duckies, but this was not the case. Jayren Willie and Tyela Perry moved the ball with precision and combined well with some new found talent from the local schools to run out comfortable winners.
Another stellla effort from our boys in Green with Steve Maxwell and Brent Peterson once again giving up there time to suppport the matches.
