The OEDA Marine Technician Program is a 2-day, hands-on experience where students can:

🔧 Learn about marine mechanics and work on real boat engines
🚤 Get hands-on with boats
✅ Complete the Marine Card (industry safety credential)

Marine Mechanical Now Part of National Apprenticeship Incentives

There’s been an important update to the Australian Apprenticeships Incentive System, with a stronger focus on priority trades through the Key Apprenticeship Program (KAP).

Marine mechanical technology is now recognised within this priority framework — highlighting the role of the trade in Australia’s evolving workforce.

The updated system includes:
✔️ Up to $10,000 in apprentice incentives
✔️ Additional training support payments
✔️ Employer incentives and hiring support

This is a positive step for the marine industry, supporting both businesses and the next generation of technicians.

Welcome to the team Eva! Already out representing Boating Careers at the Western Melbourne Try-A-Trade Event at Whitten Oval, supported by Workforce Australia Local Jobs Western Melbourne.

Across the two-day event, Eva spoke with dozens of young people about careers in the marine industry, with 20 students registering their interest in pathways including:

Mechanical Technology (Kangan)
Marine Craft Construction (Australian Institute of Engineering)
Marine Trimming Technology (Holmesglen)
